History of Brighton Golf Club

Brighton Golf Club (BGC) was founded in 1901 with members playing at an undulating beachside links course located at Bolton Park, Brighton Beach.  The links course closed around 1914, and the original club was disbanded. The club subsequently reformed for play at Elsternwick Park, Sandringham, then the current Brighton Public Golf Course when it opened in 1936.

Property in Glencairn Ave, Brighton East was purchased in 1952, and converted to the existing BGC clubhouse.  The adjacent property was later purchased for dedicated parking.

The BGC was formally incorporated in 1988.
