Look Out
for Kids!
In March, Bicycle Gold Coast
volunteers will be undertaking a safety campaign aimed at
Gold Coast high-school students.
The campaign aims to encourage school cyclists to wear
their helmets, properly secured.
It works like this: before and after
school, Bicycle Gold Coast volunteers will patrol the vicinity
of all high schools, looking for students who are wearing
their helmets correctly. The selected students will receive
an entry form for the “Win a Bike” competition, a “Look Out
for Kids” sticker and a 2 for 1 movie voucher (courtesy of
Birch, Carroll and Coyle).
The entry form for the “Win a Bike”
competition requires students to ask their parents, and the
principal, to sign the competition entry form before returning
it. This strategy is aimed at raising safety awareness
within the family, and within the school community.
This campaign enhances the effectiveness
of the current Queensland Transport campaign aimed at primary
school students. (You may have seen the television
advertisements that coincide with this initiative.)
This campaign runs for an
indeterminate length of time, but I can tell you that the
prizes just keep getting better!
